Thrift Shop Associate
Part-time - 6 hours week on Saturdays (10am-4pm) Hourly rate: $15.20/hr Location: Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia Closing date for applications: September 30, 2024 (or until filled) Position start date: October 2024 The Violet Rose Gift & Thrift Shop is a division of the After Trauma Empowerment Network (ATEN) in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia. ATEN is a non-profit organization that empowers individuals, families and communities affected by and living with the mental health impact from trauma, violence and abuse. The Violet Rose Gift & Thrift Shop relies on donations for operation and all proceeds go towards the operational expenses for ATEN. For more information visit www.atenns.ca. OVERVIEW We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Associate to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional service to our customers while supporting the sales process. This position requires a blend of retail sales experience, strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and cleanliness and excellent customer service and donor relationships. Assists with receiving and processing donations. Assists donors with questions.2.) Assists with the distribution of merchandise to the sales floor. 3.) Assists with display merchandising as directed. Follows pricing policies when setting prices on incoming merchandise. 4.) Assists with sorting pricing and stocking of store items as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the shop 5.) Assists customers with questions and purchases. Demonstrates high sensitivity to customer service to insure customers have a positive shopping experience. 6.) Ensures adherence to Thrift Store policies and procedures. 7.) Assists with and utilizes all aspects of the thrift store cash management systems including cash handling, and debit and credit card processing. Adheres to cash handling policies and procedures. 8.) Assists with daily cleaning and maintenance activities. 9.) Attends Team meetings and trainings as required. 10.) Willing to fill vacant shifts or extend work hours as needed and approved by the Executive Director. 11.) Excited about working with a diverse group of people and the opportunity to serve the community and learn new skills. QUALIFICATIONS: 1.) One year prior retail experience 2.) Excellent customer service skills. 3.) Able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. 4.) Understanding of retail cash management systems; ability to operate a cash register and/or utilize financial software. 5.) Shows maturity, good judgement and performs duties in a professional manner. 6.) Ability to lift heavy items such as boxes and bags of donations. 7.) Ability to handle incoming donations and manage the flow of intake of merchandise. 8.) Ability to work well in a busy environment with frequent interruptions 9.) I can do but I do not have retail experience . The cash register would be a problem as I have never used one .
